Dimapur: The NSCN (IM) has demanded that the Government of India immediately outlaw Kuki militant groups and their affiliated village volunteers, and formally designate them as terrorist organisations following the alleged killing of six Naga captives.

In a statement, the NSCN/GPRN strongly condemned what it described as the โ€œbarbaric killingโ€ and โ€œgrotesque mutilationโ€ of the victims, alleging that the acts constituted crimes against humanity and a grave violation of human dignity.

The organisation said it would pursue efforts to ensure that those responsible for the killings are brought to justice.

โ€œEven in times of conflict, universal moral norms demand absolute respect for the deceased. The deliberate desecration of human bodies serves no purpose other than to spread terror, weaponise fear, and inflict deep psychological trauma on grieving families and communities,โ€ the statement said.

The NSCN further alleged that the deliberate targeting of civilians, use of extreme violence and desecration of the dead amounted to acts of terrorism.

It said groups accused of committing such acts should be stripped of political legitimacy and warned that failure to act against them could undermine prospects for justice and peace.

Calling for immediate intervention, the organisation urged the Centre to act decisively against the groups and enforce the law against those found responsible.

The statement also criticised the conduct of Indian security forces, alleging that they had acted against Naga women protesters, student activists and village guards while failing to prevent the alleged killings of Naga civilians.

Questioning what it described as a disparity in the treatment of different groups, the NSCN said such actions raised concerns about the principles of justice, equality and protection that the Government of India is constitutionally bound to uphold.

The organisation also expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
