CJP Jantar Mantar protest
Thousands gathered at Jantar Mantar as CJP demanded Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation and warned of nationwide protests.

Guwahati: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is scheduled to stage a major demonstration today at 10 am at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged exam-related irregularities.

The organisation has also said it has received permission from Delhi Police to go ahead with the gathering.

Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the youth-driven CJP movement, has already reached India ahead of the planned protest in the capital.

The Education Ministry is currently facing scrutiny over allegations concerning the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case along with reported problems in the CBSE on-screen marking (OSM) system used for Class 12 evaluation and re-evaluation.

Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk, who spent six months in detention after being arrested in September during protests demanding regional autonomy, had earlier confirmed his participation in the event.

“If not us, who? If not now, when? I will be joining the CJP members in Delhi on 6th June if nothing changes by 5th June. Any self respecting Minister should resign if things go so wrong… Not to mention the effect on millions of young lives and in fact the future of India,” he said earlier in a post on X.

In a separate video, he reiterated his demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, saying the issue went beyond NEET and CBSE concerns.

“Your reasons are the NEET and CBSE exams, but for me, it is a bigger issue. For the past four decades, I have tried to improve education in government schools in remote areas. When I don’t see anything changing, I feel disappointed and I feel the need to do something,” he said.

The group originated as a satirical reaction to remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing last month, where some individuals were described as “cockroaches” and “parasites”. It has since developed into a coordinated online movement with a large following.

Its expansion has been driven by its slogan: “a political front for the youth, by the youth, for the youth”.

On Instagram, the organisation now claims over 22 million followers, exceeding the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 9 million and also surpassing the Congress party’s 13 million followers on the platform.

Ahead of the protest, the group has expanded its communication team by naming three spokespersons.

In a post on X, CJP led by Abhijeet Dipke announced that investigative journalist Saurav Das will act as chief spokesperson, while political researcher and filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya and former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka will represent the group publicly and in media interactions.
