Guwahati: Seven districts of Assam remained affected by floods on Tuesday, with the number of affected people dropping to 1,12,718.
The overall situation improved slightly, with no new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, the latest bulletin said.
The year’s flood-related death toll remains 101, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The latest assessment covers 441 villages located within 25 revenue circles across Golaghat, Sivasagar, Hojai, Jorhat, Darrang, Lakhimpur and Nagaon.
Golaghat has the highest number of flood-affected people at 65,295. Sivasagar has 18,494 affected people, while Nagaon has 16,321.
Water levels in two rivers remain above the danger mark. The Dhansiri (South) has crossed the level at Numaligarh, while the Kushiyara remains above it at Sribhumi, the bulletin said.
Relief efforts are continuing through 47 camps, which are currently accommodating 7,982 people displaced by the floods. Authorities are also running 45 centres for distributing relief supplies.
The floods have affected 10,879.03 hectares of agricultural land, while the number of animals affected has crossed 29,000.
The latest assessment recorded losses to residential property, livestock shelters and transport routes in flood-hit parts of the state.
