Guwahati: An alleged shooting of a Mising youth by an unidentified person has led to tension along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The incident was reported in Lower Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The situation reportedly escalated after people from Assam’s Dhemaji district and Lower Siang clashed amid tensions between the Mising and Galo communities along the inter-state border.

Initial reports indicate that the youth was shot by an unidentified person in the Lower Siang area during a land and alleged encroachment dispute at Mingmang Basti.

The exact circumstances of the incident and the shooter’s identity remain unknown. Eight people from Assam sustained injuries in the firing.

They have been identified as Sanjay Tayung, Durgeswar Patar, Rohit Doley, Nagaraj Doley, Pame Pegu, Utpal Doley, Jaan Doley, and Bigneswar Patir.
