Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurates the state’s first mechanised rotary parking facility at Nagamapal in Imphal.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on August 22 inaugurated the state’s first mechanised rotary parking facility at Nagamapal near Chungkham Leirak Machin in central Imphal.

Developed under the Imphal Smart City Mission at an estimated cost of Rs 8.4 crore, the automated parking facility is aimed at addressing the city’s growing parking shortage and easing traffic congestion in the capital.

The vertical parking system can accommodate 42 four-wheelers and 70 two-wheelers through four automated towers. The facility has been designed for round-the-clock operation and is equipped with computerised monitoring, backup power generators and digital cashless payment systems.

Following the inauguration, Khemchand said the facility marked an important step towards creating a more organised and efficient urban environment in Imphal.

The chief minister said technology-driven infrastructure of this kind could help make daily commuting more convenient for residents while addressing some of the challenges arising from limited parking space in the city.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan Singh, Chief Secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel and other senior officials of the state administration.

The facility is expected to provide a modern parking solution in one of Imphal’s busy urban areas while supporting broader efforts to improve traffic management and urban infrastructure in the capital.
