But the Food and Drug Administration confined its use for younger adults and children.

It is meant for those with at least one high-risk health condition like asthma or obesity.

This implies barriers for Americans whoโ€™d have to prove their risk.

Health officials didn’t second the development.

But they usually endorse updated shots from the country’s two leading COVID-19 vaccine makers.

Moderna did not respond despite approached for comments.

The year 2005’s updated vaccines aim at a newer version of the evolving virus.

They are set to begin shipping immediately.

But that could be like quite a few days or weeks before US residents are assured of a vaccine.

Access however depend on various decisions by federal health advisers, private health insurers, pharmacies and state authorities, adds AP.

The new restrictions are a relief from the previous policy.

The old one recommended an annual COVID-19 shot for six months and above.

Some medical groups, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, are against the new limits.

They opine that they may block vaccines for families saving their children.

Last week, the group was willing to recommend for kids.

It stated that annual COVID shots are strongly meat for kids aged 6 months to 2 years.

They are also advised for older children.

The updated shots from Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax aim at a coronavirus subtype called LP. 8.1.

It is a dominant version of the virus related to some new cousins.

All three shots were initially made available under the FDAโ€™s emergency use.
