Guwahati: Assam cartoonist Nituparna Rajbongshi, in collaboration with the Kahini Children’s Library initiative under Fireflies, has launched a unique fundraising campaign to support the mental health and educational recovery of children affected by the recent floods in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
The initiative aims to address the psychological trauma, learning disruptions and emotional challenges faced by children following the devastating floods.
As part of the campaign, contributors will receive a personalised caricature drawn by Rajbongshi in exchange for their financial support. The organisers said that all funds collected through the initiative will be used for the long-term mental health, educational needs and overall development of flood-affected children.
“We will accept public contributions strictly in exchange for a custom cartoon caricature. One hundred percent of these funds will be spent directly on the long-term mental health, educational needs, and holistic development of flood-affected children,” said Fireflies founder Kuldeep Das along with Rajbongshi.
The organisers said the initiative will continue as a long-term effort to help rebuild the lives of children impacted by the disaster.
Rajbongshi had earlier undertaken a similar caricature-based fundraising effort during the Covid-19 pandemic in collaboration with Shubham in Barpeta to support affected communities.
Through the latest campaign, members of the public, art enthusiasts and well-wishers can contribute towards helping children recover from the emotional and educational setbacks caused by the floods while receiving a personalised artwork in return.
